Itinerary: Day by day
This safari is the perfect family adventure, offering child-friendly game drives, guided nature walks, birdwatching, swimming, and curated activities for children. The camp is packed with exciting adventures and unforgettable moments for the whole family in the heart of the Masai Mara.
Day 1 – Arrival in Nairobi
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be meet and transferred to Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi. Check in for a two-night stay on a Bed and Breakfast basis and unwind after your journey.
Day 2 – Nairobi Wildlife Experiences
Start the day with breakfast at your hotel before exploring Nairobi. Visit the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where your family can meet playful elephant and rhino orphans and watch their feeding sessions. Next, visit the Giraffe Centre, where children can feed giraffes from elevated platforms, a magical and educational encounter. Lunch will be at Tamambo Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens before returning to the Ole Sereni Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Fly to Maasai Mara
After breakfast and check out, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for your flight to Masai Mara. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Olkupelia Mara, where you’ll enjoy lunch and check in.
For families travelling with children, the little ones can participate in child friendly activities or engaged in animal puzzles and board games at Camp, while parents relax or join a thrilling afternoon game drive. As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner followed by story sharing around the fireplace.
Day 4 – Olkupelia Mara
Explore the park on a morning game drive to see Mara’s magnificent wildlife up-close. Head back to camp for breakfast. After breakfast, the children join their guide on a camp walk designed to introduce them to the camp’s surroundings and birdwatching. The afternoon is spent at leisure. The board games, puzzles and playing cards all with a safari theme will keep the children entertained. The Young Kids can meet up with the Maasai ladies beading traditional jewelry, learning its cultural significance and they can take their crafted items home as souvenirs. End your day watching the sunset over Mara plains, with a Olkupelia sundowner. Enjoy bush dinner, followed by story sharing and stargazing around the fireplace.
Day 5 – Olkupelia Mara
Optionally, start the day with a hot air balloon safari (supplement applies) and a Champagne breakfast. Spend the day exploring the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives with a bush lunch. Head back to camp in the afternoon and relax enjoying our Massage treatments. Dinner at camp and overnight stay.
Day 6 – Departure
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for onward travel. Optional extensions to the Kenyan coast (Mombasa, Diani, Malindi) are available for families wishing to continue their holiday (supplements apply).
